Three a.m. crafting and anxiety attacks just seem to go together! Woke up with thoughts of upcoming workshops swirling through my head. I need to get busy! So up and at it, digging through past projects, looking for photos, organizing, organizing some more, extra coffee!
I am super excited about an upcoming private event where I will teach how to make my all time favorite flower - the sunflower! This is a workshop that I have taught often. I love teaching this class because the feedback is always so positive. Everyone loves it!
So it's now 4:36am and I decided to Google sunflowers. Here are some fun facts from wikipedia:
Sunflowers are usually tall and can grown up to ten feet!
Before blooming sunflower plants tilt during the day to face the sun. This allows them to get more sunlight for photosynthesis.
Sunflowers are thought to have been domesticated 3000-5000 years ago by Native Americans who cultivated them as a source for edible seeds.
The florets of the sunflower are arranged in a natural spiral having a fibonacci sequence!
Sunflowers have many medicinal uses! Sunflower oil helps in anti-inflammatory activity and have high concentrations of vitamins A, B, and C as well as niacin
Sunflowers make everyone happy! Well, I'd like to think they do!
I have had so much fun over the years creating projects with my handmade flowers and the sunflower is by far the most enjoyable. Check out some of my past projects with sunflowers!
